Extraordinary hiking week
The heyday of alpine tourism
Your Belle Epoque hiking week
During the Tour Belle Epoque you will hike the heart of the Jungfrau region and experience its diversity in the countryside. Make a journey through time to the heyday of alpine tourism and spend the nights in four selected Belle Epoque mountain hotels.
On request, the tour can be combined with a paragliding flight or a visit to the Jungfraujoch.
The “Belle Epoque” hike takes you through the very different landscapes of the Hasli, Rosenlaui, Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen valleys.
On three daytrips between 5 and 7 hours, you will hike through flowered alpine pastures, a colorful moor and along impressive waterfalls. You cross high alpine scree fields and experience the Eiger North Face first hand.
All paths are well marked as a mountain trail with the well-known white-red-white symbol.
Price: from 1089, – Euro per person in a double room
Day 1 – Arrival
Arriving in Interlaken you park your car in the hotel’s own parking lot. Your holiday begins with a relaxing one-hour ride boat Trip. The course ship brings you to the hotel dock in Giessbach See. From there, the historical funicular railway takes you to the terrace of the Grandhotel Giessbach in 5 minutes.
Get your room and enjoy the indescribable view of Lake Brienz before the chef asks for a fine dinner.
Day 2 – Giessbach -> Rosenlaui
After a hearty breakfast, you start your first leg towards Rosenlaui.
A taxi will take you to the start of the tour on the Axalp. First you pass the Axalpstübli and follow the Schnitzlerweg with its numerous wooden figures until you leave the path and after about three hours you reach the Alp Kaltenbrunnen via a unique high moor. The Wetterhorn appears majestically in front of you. From here, the route leads you via Rufenen to the Hotel Rosenlaui.
Duration: approx. 5 hours walking time.
Day 3 – Rosenlaui -> Kleine Scheidegg
Today, your hike first leads you to the Große Scheidegg, whose crossing was a highlight of every trip to Switzerland in the 18th century already. In front of you is Grindelwald and the Eiger North Face. With the Postbus you take a shortcut for the descent to Grindelwald. Perhaps you treat yourself to a little refreshment on one of the beautiful panoramic terraces of the hotels, because now you will discover the Eiger Trail. At close range you will experience the Eiger North Face, and take a walk into the direction of the Eiger Glacier and Kleine Scheidegg. After this exhausting day you can look forward to the noble coziness and exquisite food at the Grandhotel Bellevue des Alpes.
Duration: approx. 6.5 hours walking time
Day 4 – Kleine Scheidegg -> Lauterbrunnen
A broad hiking trail leads you to Männlichen summit in about 1,5h. Here you can enjoy a stunning 360-degree panorama of Grindelwald, the Lauterbrunnen valley and Lake Thun. Continue along the Gemsenweg steeply downhill to Wengen. Take your time for a break and stroll through the charming, car-free mountain village or relax on the terrace of the Hotel Caprice.
From there, the trail continues over numerous serpentines through a shady mountain forest to Lauterbrunnen.
Here your taxi awaits you and brings you to your today’s hotel, the Grandhotel Victoria – Jungfrau. Maybe treat your tired muscles with a soothing massage.
Duration: approx. 5 hours walking time
At the Grandhotel Giessbach you can expect romance and nostalgia in harmony with comfort and enjoyment. Like a hundred years ago, the hotel sits enthroned at the Giessbach Falls with an incomparable view of Lake Brienz.
Feel at home in one of the charming rooms furnished with original restored furniture from the turn of the century and be amazed by the creations of the kitchen team led by chef Tobias Hanne.
Surrounded by the wild and romantic landscape of the Rosenlaui valley, Hotel Rosenlaui, where guests have been accommodated since 1771, is located at the entrance to the Rosenlaui gorge.
The hotel was renovated little by little and has nostalgic double rooms without running water today (toilet and shower on the floor).
In the evening, chef and hotel owner Andreas Kehrli awaits you with a 4-course meal in the venerable salle à manger.
Grandhotel Bellevue des Alpes
The Hotel Bellevue des Alpes is one of the few surviving grand hotels of the 19th century. At the foot of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, the historically important house lies at an altitude of 2070m and is still managed by Silvia and Andreas von Almen as a family business.
In the Bellevue des Alpes you will not find any rooms with TV or a modern SPA, but an authentic grand hotel renovated with a sure hand, as it probably only exists in Switzerland.
Look forward to lovingly designed rooms, exquisite cuisine and a breakfast at the foot of the Eiger North Face.
VICTORIA – JUNGFRAU Grandhotel & Spa
The luxurious VICTORIA – JUNGFRAU Grandhotel & Spa is located in the center of Interlaken, overlooking the Jungfrau massif. The hotel is the end of your Belle Epoque tour.
